On 30 May 2026, Schloss Blühnbach welcomed members of the Großglockner–Heiligenblut Ibex Conservation Association as part of an educational excursion to the Blühnbach Valley. Led by Managing Director Markus Lackner, the visit offered an opportunity to explore the unique relationship between environmental stewardship, wildlife conservation, and Austria’s cultural heritage.
The association is responsible for the conservation and management of the ibex population in the Großglockner–Heiligenblut region of the Hohe Tauern, first established in 1960 and today numbering approximately 180 animals. Their work reflects a longstanding commitment to preserving biodiversity in one of Austria’s most remarkable alpine landscapes.
During the guided visit, participants toured Schloss Blühnbach and its grounds, gaining insight into the history of the estate, its historic interiors, and its collections. Guests expressed admiration for the exceptional preservation of the castle, its carefully maintained surroundings, and the spirit of stewardship that continues to shape the site today.
Special thanks are extended to Franz Hoffmann and Castle Manager Peter Trinkl for his expert guidance and for making this valuable exchange possible.
